Many youths would have no chance of getting better if the juvenile system was completely eliminated. Some states support the closing of the juvenile system because there is belief that an alternate program such as keeping children in their home or sent to a foster home will be more beneficial.
Weather a new juvenile program is created or the current system is reformed, it is important to ensure that the juvenile system and the adult system to not fuse. Eliminating the system would be detrimental for youths.

Because the courts and juvenile rights advocates believe that second chances should be given to youths who commit crimes, criminals are walking the streets, living as our neighbors, and in many instances committing additional crimes. I believe that teens should be held accountable for their actions and tried as adults.
There are some people who believe children are abused and come out of jail more dangerous and damaged then when they went in. I agree that this could be a valid argument, but why can we not say the same thing for adults? Why should juveniles be treated any different than adults when the crimes they are committing are exactly the same? The two others facing lesser counts of aggravated battery, Jeremy Jarvis, 13, and Steve Shelton, 15, will be charged as minors. These are malicious crimes and foolish acts done by immature teenagers.
Malicious criminals need to be punished to the highest extent. In this situation, the case may be transferred from the juvenile system into an adult court.
